Paint the Dash Gauge Bezel Trans Am?

I did a lengthy search and I couldn't find anything, which is hard to believe no one has done it.

I am converting my interior from grey to black, painting all the plastics. No issues, there. However, what bothers me is the Gauge bezel is grey, even in the black interior cars, or any for that matter.

I want my interior completely black, everything. Just wondering if anyone has done this or has a picture to reference. I want to see how it will look.

I don't know a whole lot about Firebirds but the earlier ones are black. I'm just not sure if they fit later models.

Re: Paint the Dash Gauge Bezel Trans Am?

You seem to be correct, 1982-1984 had black Dash Gauge Bezel.

http://www.ebay.com/itm/OEM-DASH-CLUSTER-GAUGE-BEZEL-1982-1984-FIREBIRD-TRANS-AM-/121397578887?pt=Vintage_Car_Truck_Parts_Accessories&hash=item1c43dc0c87&vxp=mtr
However, it seems to be missing buttons on the bottom and only 2 Rings for the MPH and RPM which is cool because I will be using after market gauges for OIL, PSI, TEMP.

I may get that bezel and cut out the slots to the right, insert some plexi and re-cut custom spots for the gauges.

They do make them with four holes as well.

There is pictures of what you are talking about in this thread.

You could just paint the factory one. SEM Color Coat works excellent on plastic. I painted some plastic trim on my explorer with it, and it has not faded, peeled, or flaked off; all the while being exposed to the elements.

I have already painted all my other plastics with similar plastic paint. I just wanted to see what an all black plastic would look like. I didn't know it was like that in the earlier models, and I couldn't find any pics.

Thanks for the thread, it's exactly what I was looking for.
