I personally wouldn't.. Only advantage I can see is it being easier to remove if wanting to change color???
I recently converted my interior from gray to black and I used "plastikote" brand I think it was.. made specifically for plastics. Cleaned and degrease'd them and painted away, around 4 coats, came out great.
