I was trying to get into the back seat just to check out all the trim parts that would need to come off during a headliner recover. As I sat down, I managed to get caught on the seat belt, and the damn belt snapped the retractor so hard that the clip on the sail panel(?) that has the slot that guides the seatbelt, popped out, breaking the 2 little tabs that hold it in. Arggghhh!!!!! Not good, especially since I am trying to improve the looks of my car, not make it worse !!!

The clip now stays about a quarter inch off the headliner, still works, just looks ugly as hell. This is the thing right behind and to the left of the driver's head, right above the speakers.

Any trick to fixing it so it is snug against the headliner again? I still have the two broken tabs, but gluing them back on looks pretty impossible.

Another question while I'm at it. How do you get these clips off without breaking them? Wedge a flathead just exactly against the tabs, one at a time, and push? Looked a tons of videos, no one mentions how they get these clips off.

They cut a small slit in them.You could look on ebay also for the color your looking for.

 

Mantaguy, Thanks. If I can't fix it myself, by gluing it, I guess I'll remove the old clip by cutting it off (since the old one does not have a slit) and shell out the bucks for a new clip. Saw one for $32, hope to find some cheaper!
