well the rivets at the top of the motor have all but completely torn though the metal. and its ringing the hole out pretty good. so i heard i could just drill the rivets out and put bolts plus some big *** washers on to fix it. sooo true? if so do i need to worry about anything?
Sorry to hear. I replaced my motors with the bolts instead of the rivets. I used grip washers to keep them from moving around in the holes in the door once tightened up. That may be difficult to accomplish if the sheet metal is boogered up on yours. Can you weld? Seems like it would only need to tack the holes back together or even tack some washers over the offending holes.

Yes you can use bolts,I just received a new pair that included a new set of bolts.Don't know if I'm going to use the bolts or just re- rivet them.
Yes..You can use nuts and bolts. My suggestion to you is to use smallest sizes you can and definitely use a nylock nut, or threadlock..getting your hand behind and on the nut is no fun..and you only wanna do it once ...if you are having tuff time locating nut on, use some vaseline or similar to hold it on the tip of your finger to place on the bolt....i followed the instructions found on the site to install new motors, and they worked flawlessly..if you were near me, i'd help.
When I did mine I found a strip of plastic and hot glued the nuts to it. Then I fed the plastic stick with nut attached behind the door where my hands wouldn't fit. It's a royal pain in the a$$ of a job. Good luck.
