Rear seat belts

I have small kids and my wife is not real keen on them riding in the back of my 87 iroc (once I get it running) with just the lap belts.

Has one converted to the typical belts we have now? Shoulder and lap? Where to buy them?

Thank you

Re: Rear seat belts

They started installing three points seat belts in the rear in third gens in 1988...so close :P
Either get a 1988-up or find a parts car that has what you need : welded brackets, rear belts, interior panels, seat belt guides for the rear seat.

Thank you. I will start looking and I found a guy in my area that does interiors and I am going to call and see if he can install. I do not know how to weld

Re: Rear seat belts

You'll probably want a later thirdgen, or 4th gen rear seat, for the seatbelt guides that were built into the seatback.

Re: Rear seat belts

The Seat Belt retainers that get screwed to the rear seat backrest ) part of the rear seat belt assembly. The belt is fed thru the retainer and as far as I know,... there is no way to separate it from the Rear belt assembly unless the belt is cut. ( I have a spare set of these retainers,.. but seem to remember cutting the belt in order to remove the retainer. )

I've got a set of the brackets needed for the rear shoulder belt conversion. I might also have the Rear Belts and hatch plastic Panels too depending on the color you need. If you're seriously interested in converting and need more info send me a PM for details. Be sure to include the interior color and your ZIP code.
