Just got a 91 GTA. The center console lid shuts very hard. Is this a spring loaded mechism ? also takes a lot of pressure to pull open, I am afraid it will damage the unit over time. Anyone else experience this and is there a fix ?

 

It is a spring; that is how it functions normally.

 

that spring has a lot of tension on it, how do you get in there to check it?
