I used an auto console from a 2000 firebird going into my 87' formula. First off, this is a serious PITA. Lots of fabrication to the shifter, mounting brackets on the tunnel, and console cover. Some posted that all that was needed was to reposition where the shifter mounts but I found that was not the case at all. I ended up cutting the neutral safety switch bracket off and the tab on the back. I am carb' so no computer inputs needed and I wired the safety circuit to a toggle switch that is now an anti-theft kill switch. Another headache I didn't see mentioned is the shifter cable is to short when you move the shifter back. There is no extra length so right now it isn't in the tunnel grommet and it's still tight. I'm still researching if there is anything stock I can pull from a yard or end up buying something. I've got a turbo 400 so maybe the stock 700 would give the extra length needed. I noticed that B&M says their shifter won't fit formula's so maybe using another shifter would have made it easier. I was able to mount the window switches in the stock location. Not sure why many mount them in the ash tray location instead. I reused the shifter boot which made it look more factory. A long write up but just sharing as much info as I can think of to help the next guy. Best of luck
