I have a 1991 Z28 with the highback seats (not the seats with headrests) and the drivers fabric is torn but the foam is excellent. I found a passenger seat that is in great condition. I know the hinge and seat belt guide loop will have to be switched from one side to the other. But here's my question. Anybody know if the interior metal frames are the same or different from driver to passenger side?

Remember: I'm talking high back seats only.

I don't want to tear them apart and wind up without a functional seat. Thanks.

 

Maybe the seat pan, but the seat back may differ at the hinge/recline attachment.If its the fabric why you want to switch, those are the same.

 

not sure which seats you're referring to, but the metal frames for the backs are likely different. no matter though, just swap the fabric over to your driver's side seat.

the seat foam is almost always interchangeable, except for some firebirds where it's part of the seat frame. while you're there check your driver's seat foam (bottom and back) and consider freshening it up. passenger seats are a good source of foam and material to refresh tore up driver's seats.
