Looking to see if a 2016 Camaro/Corvette steering wheel will work in these cars
My steering wheel is ugly and Im looking for a nice replacement. I want a D wheel but nothing cheap looking. Im wondering if the wheels in the 2016+ and 2016+ Corvettes will work on the 3rd gen steering column. Yes, I have an airbag in my car but I am not worried about it. If the newer GM wheels can safely bolt up to the 3rd gen column then I will just delete the airbag all together. It will just be a dummy bag.
Re: Looking to see if a 2016 Camaro/Corvette steering wheel will work in these cars
Crazy idea here that will only work if both parts are the same material.
Option 1: cut out the center of the Corvette steering wheel and then weld a Grant hub adapter to it. I dont know if the Grant hub is steel or aluminum. I do not know if the frame of the Corvette wheel is steel or aluminum. Id guess and say steel but, its just a guess.
If, this works then technically, the Corvette wheel will simple bolt right onto the 3rd gen column with no issues. The only thing to pay attention to would be the offset of the Grant hub on the steering wheel so that the trim on the back of the wheel and the trim on the column do not interfere with each other.

I saw a 06 GTO steering wheel in a 4thgen but they said some out of the box thinking was required. That's all I know about it. That and he was working to get the air bag hooked up

Im not concerned about the airbag working. I wear my seatbelt wherever I go.
My main issue right now is determining what material the C6 /C7 and Gen 6 Camaro steering wheels are made out of
