best method for prepping plastic and vinyl/leather for paint??
Ive been painting some dash pieces and it didn't come out to good to say the least.. I still have to repaint all the plastics in my car with the camel sem 15173 and i don't want the same problems i've had with my dash pieces so i'm going to try a different method. If someone could please give a step by step method they used to prepping plastics and the products they used for it that worked very well, from washing the pieces to whatever brand adhesion you've used, that would be very helpful!! Thank You!
To Be specific i have to paint all the cargo plastics in my car
the door panels, which are carpet, plastic, and the rubber arm rests

Have you searched You Tube? There's tons of info and how to on there. I watched quite a few pros do it a while back

I cleaned them the same and even used the Bully Dog but I think where I went wrong was not using the spray version. My local auto parts store only had a quart can of the liquid. I poured it in a spray bottle and I don't think I got even enough coverage like you would with the aerosol can. Some of the paint stuck really well but other areas would scratch right off.

Have been doing this to the interior in my '87 bit by bit for a while now and haven't had any issues at all with peeling. I had to strip my carpet off because of mice and the fact that the color is tan and was in really bad condition. I used the same process of dish detergent with a scrub brush, blue scotch-brite kitchen sponge, and warm water.
Let the parts dry then followed with Dupli-color PS100 Prep Spray wiped off with a lint free microfiber towel.
Two to three coats of Dupli-color CP199 Adhesion Promoter waiting 3 minutes in between coats.
For the black parts I did 2-3 coats of HVP106 Dupli-color flat black with 3-5 minutes between coats. Tan parts are SEM 15033 Saddle Tan with the same prep process and 3-5 minute recoat wait time.
I changed the color of one of the parts from Gray to tan and didn't have any issues at all.
