Claret vs. Briar Brown Headliner

Hey everyone, my interior is Briar Brown in my 1984 Z28. I need a new headliner, while I was looking I found "Claret" for $75 vs 195 for the Briar Brown. When I looked at the color, although its described as maroon, it looks to be pretty darn close. Is it close enough to save $120, does anyone have photos of the t-top headliner in the claret color? I also found "Maple" for even less, but looks to be more red.

If I had the money it wouldn't even be a question, but with a 3 month old baby, the money has gone from one baby to another...

I wouldn't think they would be very close in real life. But having never owned either, I'll wait for an early third gen owner to chime in.

None of these are close enough?

There's Briar Brown here for $16.95 a yard...

Just throwing some options out there.

If you're looking for just the material I would ask for some color samples. I bought my carpet through Stock Interiors and they sent me the three that were close so I could decide. Also if you're going for the entire headliner watch for what they charge for shipping. I found most companies were in the $75-$100 range just for the shipping.

I have to replace the whole headliner as last year with the t tops off after buying it, I had the joy of the broken headliner blowing all over the place. I wrote to Hawks and asked for some samples, have not heard back yet.

Re: Claret vs. Briar Brown Headliner

1A Auto sent me samples that helped me choose between some similar colors.

I think (Dark) Claret is RPOs beginning with 79. It is a nice color. And if it puts a headliner in your car so you can focus on the more important baby and save $, so be it. Headliner material isn't insanely expensive, so re-covering it later shouldn't be another $170. For that matter, I have always recovered my own, but I know the t-top headliners in third gens are another challenge.
