Manual shift plate help!

Okay so I have 1987 Camaro Z28 with a 5 speed manual transmission. My old shift plate was broken and shift boot worn , so I decided to buy a pretty good condition shift plate from eBay . It just arrived and I noticed the metal bracket they use to hold the boot to the plate is different and won't fit on the replacement plate any info on the proper bracket I need or what years it's for would be appreciated. New on left old on right

Re: Manual shift plate help!

Is it close to fitting? Could you drill some new holes and make it work??? I may get some metal stock and fab one up with a jig saw!

...or scour ebay.

...and for the record, my 89 is definitely like the one on the left. NOT like your 87. Not sure about 88.
