New steering wheel on the way! NRG Quick Release

Hi all!

So I just ordered a new steering wheel + quick release + hub.

For 245$ I thought it was a pretty good deal especially considering it's NRG's new style quick release... What I notice is that as the colors get more abstract (red, pink, etc...) the prices seem to drop for the kits. My favorite color is red so I went with this one since it was 30-40$ less than the blank/grey.

This is exactly what I ordered:

Here's the reasons I went with this kit:
  1. I didn't like many of the grant wheels besides the club sport
  2. The grant setup felt a bit proprietary to me as they're 3/5 bolt wheels
  3. This kit would allow me to run any 6 bolt wheel which seems more common across various steering wheel brands.
  4. The price seemed pretty good for what I'm getting.

Just for the record... Here is the exact model numbers of each piece within the kit in case anyone wants to replicate this setup or anything similar (hoping it's successful):
  • NRG Innovations SRK-170H Short Hub Adapter
  • NRG Innovations SRK-250RD Quick Release (I believe RD = Red)
  • NRG Innovations RST-012R-RS Steering Wheel (I believe RS = Red stitching)

Stay tuned...

Re: New steering wheel on the way! NRG Quick Release

I installed an NRG quick release in My 87 three years ago. Definitely worth your time to do so and it'll turn a few heads at shows when people realize it's not a grant.

I documented the whole thing here if you're looking for some light reading:
