Hi,

I'm new here so let me introduce myself. My name is Steve and I just bought my first 3rd gen. I have an 88 GTA Notchback. I've been a 2nd gen guy for a long time but this is my first time trying out a 3rd gen.

So here's my question:

I have a non VATS steering column in my car right now, but it does not have radio steering wheel controls in it. I have looked around and do not see the VATS wire in the dash or the control box anywhere. The car starts and runs fine. That leads me to believe that I have a non-VATS car. I know they did the switch in mid 88. My problem is that I want the steering wheel controls to work. The only columns that I have found with the radio contols are VATS columns. Will one of these work without the VAT box? If not does anyone have any suggestions?

 

Since your not dealing with vats or it has been bypasses in some fashion.
A vats column will work .
