1982 Trans am top door arm rest plastic bushing
Hi
Guys
I'm hoping someone here can help.
I''m in the UK and have a 1982 Pontiac Firebird trans am (since 1992).
I am in need of a plastic retainer bushing that holds the top screw securely on the arm rest.
I've noticed from pictures later cars had all metal ones but my 82 has plastic ones that you insert and twist ,to stop it turning and then the bigger top screw goes inside it to hold the armrest in place.
Does anyone have one (or two) of these undamaged, or even know if the later cars with metal ones are compatible with my 82's panel and removable ?
Cheers in advance.

Unlikely I would look at some of those plastic anchors they sell at hardware stores for running screws into sheet rock. You can adapt them easily by cutting off the closed ends. That is what I did for my old 82.

Hi
Thanks for taking the time to respond. Of the many parts sites and the like I've asked all have not even bothered to say yay or nay.
So I appreciate that.

It's the upper part of the armrest handle. The '82 has a slot in the door itself that this plastic retainer fits in. When you reattach the arm rest the upper bolt goes through this retainer and holds it.
I needed one and had to use the white plastic retainers used for license plates.

If the hole they go into is square, then they're probably the same as what goes into the bottom of the doors on later Firebirds for attaching the cupholders. On my '92 there were three at the bottom of each door for the cupholder screws.
