4th Gen Power Seat

What needs to be done to install a 4th gen power driver seat? Is it just a matter of running a power and ground to the seat motor with an inline fuse?

Yep.Mine is factory, but power goes to a junction block behind the dr. kick panel.Wired thru a circuit breaker.I dont remember there being a fuse, but it wouldnt hurt to have one.

Re: 4th Gen Power Seat

Late thirdgens have the seat harness plug in between the two halves of the power lock/window harness. It's the three wire plug under the drivers kick panel, C238/C239. That way the seat(s) run off the PWR ACC breaker.

Earlier cars have a distribution block under the dash higher up on the kick panel.

So pull the power wire off of there and then just make a ground somewhere else? Whats going to be at the end of that now just an empty pin in connector 238?

Re: 4th Gen Power Seat

You could Scotch lock, or use another splice to tap in, or look what is already there and figure out a good way to tap in. Depending on how the car is equipped now, you may have the C238 connector just hanging. or you might have the power lock/window harness plugged in. GM's answer was to grab another c239 style connector, and another C238 style connector, and build the seat harness to plug in between the other harnesses.
