Interior Rear Molding

1984 Z28. What is the best way to restore all of the plastic / vinyl molding in the rear half of the car? It's all pretty faded, can it be cleaned, and painted?

Thank you
Kevin

My :

Save yourself the time, energy, and $$ and just buy some good used original panels in the color you need.

Cheap Spray dye is about $10 a can and good Spray Dye is about $15 a can. If you put in a bunch of hours cleaning / prepping / dyeing the original faded & deteriorating panels the results are always great - till the panel gets scratched. A couple years later and you'll be wishing you just got some decent used panels in the first place.

I just re-did my plastic interior. I used SEM paint for plastic. They came out GREAT! You have to figure out what color you will need that closely matches but it matches up nice. First I washed all my parts with dawn dish soap and water. After I let them dry I used the SEM prep to plastic. You spray it on then wipe it off right way. Then painted them, 3 coats, of the factory color from SEM. Waiting10 minutes in between each coat. After that I sprayed them to 2 coats of the SEM Satin finish. I could not be more satisfied.

Finding good replacements local sometimes aint possible.
Esp. if you live in the sunbelt !
I just washed and dried it , a bit of EASY on the Scuffpad action and just Armoralled it.
Buffed w/ compound on the outside.

Good luck!

What color do you need,... what is your ZIP code ??

Generally speaking; this website, craigslist, E-Bay, & Facebook are the best online searches you can use. The alternative is the 'old school' method of searching thru the local bone-yards. There's not much left in most yards these days - but you can get lucky sometimes !
