I installed one of these new console lids that I bought from Hawk's. My old lid was slightly warped at the back and wouldn't hold the light switch down. This caused the light in the console to stay on all the time. I don't have that problem anymore. The lid fits really well but I did have to shave some material off of the rubber bumpers so the lid would latch closed. Overall I’m very happy with the product.
I was able to remove the SPID sticker from my original lid without damaging it, but haven’t figured out how to attach it to the new lid yet. Debating trying to re-glue it but I'm nervous about the glue messing up the sticker.
@battmann
3M makes a emblem adhesive in a peel and stick sheet. You peel the backing, and there is a clear rubbery adhesive that transfers to the SPID label. I've used this product several times to re-attach labels. Brushable rubber cement also works ok, but you need the "water white" or clear version.
Thanks for the reply. So does the repro lid look (cosmetically) identical to the original?...
Not quite. While it is a very nicely done reproduction (I have one myself and have no complaints), it's not 100% factory correct. Hawk's textured the release button. The original buttons are not textured and are smooth plastic. I can live with it, but it's technically not correct. I've had it in my car for over 4 years now and it has held up nicely and still looks as perfect as the day I installed it. Well worth the money, but if you want 100% factory correct, it doesn't fit the bill.
