Rear Hatch support install issues

Hey guys,
Got a new set of rear hatch supports. Install was easy. Hooked up the rear defrost clips, BUT the metal tabs at each end closest to the rear seats are mounted on the OUTSIDE of the strut and the wire connectors (that i think power my third brake light) won reach. I searched and see that on originals the metal tabs for these wire connectors on original cars are mounted on the INSIDE of the strut, not on the outside like mine. What am i missing here? I can't be that dumb...LOL...Thanks in advance

Trying to picture this....would it matter if you swapped them side to side?

Re: Rear Hatch support install issues

Struts are part of the rear window defrost circuit. Tabs face toward center of car, not toward glass. Bottom line is put it together however it will go together (there are only 2 choices )
