So my car has been parked at a friends house since I purchased it. I have been meaning to get it home but something always comes up. Well my place has become a part store because I have so much stuff I ordered and its starting to get in my way. The other day I drove it home and decided the first thing I would do is drill out the trunk lock, install the new one, then install the seats I ordered. The factory driver seat was stuck very close to the wheel and I couldn't take it. Anyway most of my time was taken up trying to figure out which mount went to what side, which way they faced, how do the rails mount, etc. In all the install videos guys skip over things like that and don't realize you need those details. The actual install job was 15 minutes and about 40 minutes prepping the seat with the hardware.
My new rear carpet comes this weekend so I have to find a way to get that truck open. I am deleting the rear seat backs but keeping the bottoms. I have to make some adjustments to the height on the passenger and the adjustment back on the driver side. I have time as I wait for the cabin carpet. I did learn that I have to change the door panels now. Those will not work! Oh and sidebar, I had been looking for the V8 air intake that goes over the radiator then has the filters mounted up front. No lie once I removed the rear seats I saw the guy already had all the parts sitting in the lower part of the trunk. I guess he had the same idea for the V6.
I don't want to start a new thread but I have a few questions regarding the rear hatch lock if anyone can help. I pretty much chewed up the old lock getting it out BUT I am not able to release it from the plastic/cabling. How do you do that? Secondly, my pull down motor is broken...bad. Do you think it is possible that I just use the power lock function of the mechanism and keep the pull down motor unplugged?

It will be very difficult, even next to impossible, to latch close the hatch if the motor is already pulled down. You can try. Don't slam the hatch closed, you might shatter the glass. Just press straight down with hands and see if the latch clicks. Also make sure the motor isn't in some kind of short circuit condition and drains your battery because that would suck when you're away from home.
Thank for replying. Well seems part of the metal is broken on a part that twist. The fuse for the power locks was removed and I replaced it. Yes the battery was drained over night so I took it back out. This may be the culprit of that drain now that you mention it. I have so much to purchase so yea I am trying to avoid that hit in the pocket. Now it was latched but of course when I got the lock out it popped up. I may get a manual unit temporarily then replace the thing later. Do you know how to get the lock out of that plastic?
This post is just for future people that are searching for an answer. You pry the lock out of the plastic holder with a flat head screw driver. Don't worry if it bends because the plastic kind of comes back into place.
