3rd gen rear seat to 4th Gen
3rd gen rear seat to 4th Gen
I'm retro-fitting 3rd gen seats into a 2nd gen. I was told 3rd gen seats will work for what I want to do with them, but considering 4th gen seats because they are newer and the foam is likely to be in better shape. Knowing many of you have done the 3rd gen to 4th gen swap....What is the physical size by size difference between 3rd and 4th gen rear seat bottoms? I was told the 3rd seat is 2" longer front to back, but interested to know if that is 2" past the mounting loop or in general. thx.

FWIW, I got a 4th gen seat from the junk yard. It’s about 19” x 19”.

The rear seat bottoms from 82-02 are essentially the same dimensions. There may be slight differences in styling, but they are minor, Same goes for rear seatback. The front seat bottoms may vary an inch or two in length between the standard camaro seat to some trans am/gta seat bottoms, but seats will interchange with little to no issues.
The 2nd gen rear seat bottom on the other hand is a one piece though, correct? Much bulkier that the two 3rd/4th rear seat cushions.
