1985 Z28 center console clock

The center console clock is operating erratically. Sometimes stops and a small tap on the cover and it starts. Sometimes runs
for a few days and other hours. Is this reparable or do I need to get another clock? What is the procedure for removing it?

Second hand can also warp other direction and stick on the minute hand. Be careful with the plastic housing, this plastic is very brittle after 35yrs. While you have it open, swap the lights for LED replacements - besides better viewing they won't get hot which warps second hand and makes plastic even more brittle.

You can also try shooting some wd40 on the gear mechanism to help free it up.I have about 15 console clocks and have done this quite a few times to get them working correctly

No…You can get access to it by lifting the rear section. You will need to remove the shift plate and radio bezel and also the console lid. Then undo the 2-10mm and 2-7mm bolts in the console.Take off the e brake handle and lift it as far up as you can. Then you should be able to lift the rear of the console high enough to access the 3-7mm bolts that hold the clock in place
