Modification for radio pod?
Modification for radio pod?
Hi All, I posted a 'want' for radio pod, but also wondering if anyone has modified their pod since the tabs/screw inserts were broken?
I don't know how to get around using my pod when I can't install a new radio when there is nothing to attach the new radio kit to.
Thanks!

Well, look at this.
1985-1992 Firebird Radio Pod, New Reproduction, Hawks Restoration Parts - Hawks Third Generation (hawksmotorsports.com)
I knew Hawk's offered refurbished pods and used pods, but when I went to the site, I found that. And its price isn't much more than they ask for a refurbished or used pod. Given the mortality rate of factory radio pods, this might be one of the more logical parts they've chosen to reproduce yet. Hawk's repro parts usually lack some fine details that make them completely accurate, but for this, I doubt there will be much to complain about. If I needed one, I'd buy it. No other choices anyway lol.

Re: Modification for radio pod?
Thanks LA. I had seen that but hoping not to have to buy it. I haven't called yet to see if they have one available...can't go by what the site says. I've dealt with Hawks before as I had my car sent there some time ago.
Finding some other pods, but not in good enough shape. Even if one is not in good shape (less $ than Hawks) but the radio mounts are there, I'd buy it just so I can use it as a template and create something that I can attach to my existing pod. I'll keep searching and 'putting out the call' for a bit.
