1992 to 82 Firebird dash swap - air vents
Hi,
I've had my 1992 Firebird for nearly ten years now, and have decided that I can't stand all the grey plastic as well as the separating vinyl on the center console anymore. I have bought an 82-84 Firebird dash shell, the trim around the instrument cluster, the panels under the dash, and the switches as well as a few other pieces. Now I've read somewhere that the driver's air vent is smaller on the 91-92 models than it is on the early 82-84 models. Can someone with an early third gen Firebird take out a tape measure and tell me the dimensions of the driver's air vent?
If someone knows whether I have to replace the entire HVAC box that'd help me a lot!

My 82 they're 3.75 in square. I think all years they are the same.
were you able to get all the center console parts. They're pretty hard to find at this point.

Thanks for taking the time and measuring. I‘ll be able to check the size of my driver‘s vent tonight, but after some thinking about it I‘m pretty sure the passenger side vent is bigger on my car.
I‘ve found everything for the dash itself as well as the earlier style door handle trim. I haven‘t decided yet which center console is in best condition. There are a few on ebay currently, but shipping to Europe is more expensive than the console itself.

I think the parts are relatively interchangeable between years. I've seen plenty of 82-84 cars w 85-92 parts swapped in. I'm sure you make something work.
