I’ve always had trouble heel-toeing in a 3rd gen. The gas is a hair too far away to roll my foot over without slipping off, and the trans tunnel makes classic heel-toe impossible. I took the gas pedal out with the intent to just bend the rod. I noticed the spring was on the inboard side of the pedal. I trimmed away a plastic rib and bent the spring to swap sides with the rod. The reversed spring still locks into the retaning groove in the pin. This moves the pedal about 3/8” toward the brake. Unlike just bending the rod, it won’t change the angle of the pad. One caution, I practiced bending on the original rusty spring I had saved and it snapped near one of the original bends. The new spring bent just fine. I’m a size 11 for reference.
Before Top, After Bottom
Cutting the rib, bent spring.
Heel Toe unlocked!
