a real general description is "engine coolant temp high-fuel disabled"

i have no clue? the car will run and idle fine, but wont rev at all.
could it be just a shorted wire or a bad sensor. the scan tool just says 280* all the time, and the guage is pegged, even when you first start the engine.

anybody have any ideas where to start? to me it seams like a shorted sensor

High temperature indicates a short to ground. Either the sensor is bad or the wire is pinched/rubbed through somewhere. You mentioned that the ECM not only reads high, but the sensor is pegged. How do you have them wired up????? Are you using the '98s 3-wire sensor????

i believe its a two wire sensor. its stock for the 99 f-body

i didnt really change any wires around, just plugged in and went since im using a complete 4th gen harness, gauges, etc....

i will be looking at it tomorrow to figure it out, maybe its as simple as a bad sensor i hope

Unplug the coolant sensor and see if the computer reads -40°

If its does read that, then the wiring and computer are probably working and the sensor may be bad. If it still reads over 280, then you probably have a wiring or computer issue.
