I like the strut tower brace you got over it... looks good. Decent dyno #'s too.

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

what ECM are you using?

Are those racing innovation and supply headers?

how does the 6.0L feel? I really wanna do my own LS swap soon. I keep coming across good deals on 5.3L or 6.0L

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

hey bandit
Im using the stock 411 pcm that i reflashed with hptuners.. and had a local tuner do a dyno tune on fix some small driveabilty issues with the cam
the headers are the ebay ones i believe they are racing innovations but im not sure
i put an ls1 cammed 4.8 in first and it was "quick" but not really fast
the cammed lq9 is by far the fastest motor ive had in this car even with 275/40's on 17x9 wheels traction is an issue ... which is awesome lol
i have a Fast 90 and a 4" cold air intake to install in the spring kinda hope it gets me closer to 400 whp we shall see

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

Cam specs ? Is it tuned ? Should Have a lot more on table with the lq9

Ls3 top end would be killer and bigger cam would put you closer to 500ish range

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

its a bone stock lq9 with just a howards ASA cam and ls6 springs.. its tuned fairly well one dyno session, my injectors were at 100% duty cycle at the top of my pulls so along with the fast intake i need some larger injectors.
im sure there is considerably more power in this thing but with a rebuilt 10 bolt i know the motor is NOT the weak link so before i go bumping up the power an upgrade is likely in order haha

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

Thanks,I found some but people are asking too much for these things now lol.I picked up a set of used 317 heads I may swap..lower my compression and see how the pistons are holding up.Just going to hold off till spring/tax returns and dive more into it.I got a spare set of gta rims to put some drag radials on also

I like the lope of that cam.Having my turbo tamed the choppiness of mine..but hearing the turbo through the exhaust is cool now.

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

Pretty similar to what I have with my 4.8. Howards ASA cam, RI headers. What heads do you have on your lq9?

I'm hoping my engines makes close to yours because I ported the heads, intake, and TB.

Nice looking swap

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

the 4.8 will prolly make similar hp numbers, but torque will be down a good bit especially down low, my 4.8 with an ls1 cam loved to rev but felt "soft" under 3000 rpm ... but im curious to see what your will dyno at haha let us know.

picked this up a few weeks back should help a little

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

Whats the specs on that cam?

I'm not complaining but it seems like the numbers are a little low to me.

I had an LQ4 I built, stock bottom end, 228r cam from TSP, milled LS6 heads, did 405 at the wheels through a 4L60E (before the trans exploded..)

I'm planning to go LQ9 this time as I'd hoped to avoid a head swap (figured it'd be cheaper to reach my goals)

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

the howards asa cam only has .525 lift the 228r i believe is 585 ??? thats off the top of my head so im not sure, i liked the fact that i could use ls6 springs which are cheap. the rest of the specs are as follows 226/236 .525/.525 113lsa and a 109 intake centerline.. i might throw some 1.8 rockers on there at some point just for giggles.... its bones stock otherwise still has the factory 317 heads ... it also has a pretty flat torque curve which is nice with the t56, even with 4.10s i find that cruising below 1800 rpms is fine which is pretty good for a cam of that size (in my opinion )
depending on how much you milled from the 243 your comp ratio may have been a little higher which may have helped your number with that cam, i think i may i some point throw some 243s on mine to bump it up to 10.5+ i think the larger cam would enjoy the higher compression

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

Hi,
I have an '84 Z28 HO as well and as you know the the air ducts for the air cleaner (carb) are different then the one you used form a TPI engine. I'm curious, did you change the nose to fit the air intake box in the front or does it mount up and allow the air to flow with the stock '84 front end?

Swap looks great by the way.

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

hey devil

im assuming your referring to the HO dual snorkel vs the TPI over the radiator type intake , mine originally had the dual snorkel (which i sold long ago) and i converted it to the tpi by using the tpi Y shaped uppper piece and lower piece ( which fit any camaro or firebird nose/bumper as far as i know ) and have since gone to a custom 4" GTO kit to supply air to the LQ9

Re: LQ9/T56 swap complete with dyno #'s

Right on. I know they changed some of the aesthetics of the front end in '85. I wasn't sure if they did any other modifications inside the nose for the new TPI air intake as well.
Thanks.

You don't need anything. It's plug and play. Assuming that it's an LS T56 and not LT1. For LT1 you require an LS input shaft.
