some off the wall LT1 questions
i've got a '94 9C1 Caprice that i have pulled the LT1 out of. my plans for this engine are to put it into something built purely for straight line performance. with that said, unnecessary weight on the front end is a bad thing. i'm not planning on running AC, and power steering isnt required either. anybody know of a way to eliminate these two items and still retain a serpentine belt to run the alternator? if i were to just flat out remove the AC compressor, and PS pump i would run into problems with the belt running between the alternator (mounted high on the passenger side) and the crank pulley contacting the water pump.

Take a look at a 1LE F-body a/c delete pulley. It may bolt up. I think I saw on one at a show but I'm not 100% sure.
You can always ask at www.impalassforum.com
OR
You can take apart your current a/c compressor and remove the guts. Just use the front of the casing with the pulley acting for routing only.

Do some searching on the net or CZ28 I believe someone does make a low mount alternator for it, which is all you need.
