Lt1 Swap Underway
I just looked at a LT1 with full harness and 4l60e. Picking it up sunday. It is set up for 95-97 ecms(the ecm comes with it to). I have a 85 transam. I have searched and really am confussed about the under dash wiring. Are the wire harness connectors the same and just need repinned? Also can I use my shifter? What guages do I have to use? I do not really want a fourth gen dash but I am thinking of aftermarket gauges that would work with the LT1. I have just began collecting things and need to know more specifically to the swap. Any and all help is greatly appreciated, but try to stay away from bashing others ideas I like to read tech not arguments.

I am also going to rebuild the engine before it goes back in. Stock bottom end (new bearings, rings, and seals). I want to convert to LT4 intake with performance LT4 heads (need advice on wich heads to get). I am probably going to buy the LT4 hot cam kit for it. Then tune it all in.

Bang for buck, I have heard the hotcam kit doesn't help that much over stock. As for the underdash wiring, everything for the gauges will be tied into the bulkhead connector and the injectors will tie into the two connectors under the passenger side of the dash.

Do not know yet. I haven't checked out any of the specs. I am up for suggestion though. I think its .002-.003 thousandths, not sure.
