LS1 wiring
Want to start on the wiring myself to save money and so I did it but I am lost. First what all do I need from the third gen harness and if any on has diagrams are pics that would help the stuff I found when I did a search is not enough, when I do mine i will take pics and post a whole topic on how to do it. I just need help getting started. I'm a paint and body guy so this wiring is not my thing!

goto the conversions and hybrids board of www.ls1tech.com
that'll get you all the LS1 wiring info you need.
then go here and download all the PDF files.... that'll be all the wiring for a 91 camaro (your wiring may differ slightly)
with just thoes two, you should be able to wire it, no problem.

I remember when I did all my wiring. Its actually not that hard once you get all the info and pinouts, its just a little time consuming and making it look neat and stock takes time. Once you get started it goes farely quickly
I wish I would have taken pictures of when I tore out all the wires from the old engine, it was such a mess, wires everywhere. The 3rd gen engine harness and the body harness are one harness, unlike the 4th gen, in which the engine harness and the body harness are 2 seperate pieces. So you need to cut off all of the engine wiring from the harness and only leave the wiring for the body and then wire in the LS1 engine harness into the 3rd gen body wiring. I suggest labeling every wire from the 3rd gen harness that you cut so that you know and your not wondering what it is and what its from later. I also made it so that the LS1 engine harness is completely removable from the body wiring. Bought Male and Female connectors and wired it in that way. That way when something goes wrong you know where all your wiring is without haveing to tear through all your work.
Just some things to think about before you actually get into the thick of the wiring mess. Any more questions feel free to ask.

the gauges, coil power, ect, is built into the bulkhead connector on the drivers side corner of the firewall.... the lights, horn, turn signals, ect is also built into this connector.
the engine only wires are thru the passenger fender on the kickpanel.. wires going thru there include PCM power, injector power, injector wires, ENGINE coolent temp sensor, IAT sensor, ect.....
heh, i did a harness for my friends LT1 3rdgen yesterday... the more i do this stuff, the easier it gets.. we did his whole underhood wiring in 6 hours...
(thats like a world record pace.. lol)

A good friend came over the other night and we mapped out pretty much everything we're going to have to do to my wiring harnesses. It really isn't going to be that hard at all thanks to him and some info from Mr. Dude. thanks! I can't wait to get it done... I gotta find some time to seperate my underhood engine harness and underhood accesory harness. Then we'll go from there. Shouldn't be too hard, I'll take lots of pics and stuff... I plan on cutting a hole in the firewall under the heater box and putting the PCM inside!
