Need help
I'm sure this has been gone over and over but I was going to do a LT1 swap. Seems like ever place I call they say "No No do the LS1 much better" (I would too if I was selling it). But I have tryed Hawks,Tenn.Auto,Grahams They tell me that they really dont get them much and if they do they have 100,000 on them.I know the pros/cons of the LT1/LS1 swap now I dont want something with 450HP well not right now. I know if I go LT1 looking at a rebuild plus mods. I can find LS1 all day with 50,000 on they. So what i really want to know is that the LS1 really worth it? I mean all the money it takes to do it. I've seen most in the 7 grand range and still not done. SO if you have done the swap What do you have and would you have done the other LT1 or LS1 THANKS

all depends on teh cash flow, i absolutly love my ls1, my dad has a 96 TA and the LS1 is just a better design.
That being said the ls1 isn't going to make a ton more power over a modded LT1, a 383 LT1 with a set set of heads is going to right on par with a heads and cam ls1.
The question is how much money you want to spend, if you got the money go the ls1 route but if money is tight go the lt1 route.
I'm sure you could pick up a high milage LT1 for dirt and do a rebiuild on it pretty easy. I dont know much of how much it costs to get a lt1 into the car, but for the ls1 i would say set aside 6 grand to do it right.

If money is an issue do the LT1 for sure. I built an LT1 from a bare block with pretty much everything new and it ended up costing me like 3k+ Actual installation has been pretty simple, except for some wiring, but I am an idiot when it comes to that. LT1 you need the engine, harness, fuel pump, and computer and you are good to go.
