LT1 swap ?
I am looking for a 95 LT1 called a bunch of places to find one. So I call one place and the man tells me that I can use a 96 or 97 that I can swap out the comp and opti for a 95 and it will work want OBD I not OBD II so will this work or is he blowing smoke?

Blowing smoke on the opti, just need the earlier pcm and i believe there is one small difference in the harness thats easily remedied.

D'oh
You're right. The tach output from the PCM is different, but it doesn't matter on a 3rd gen swap because the tach isn't controlled by the PCM anyway, it can be run directly off the coil. The only time it matters is if you're using a PCM controlled tach, like the 4th gen guage cluster.
That said, note that the 96+ coil is different than the 95- coil. The 95- is the same as the late 3rd gens, the 96_ uses a different plug and throus a bit hotter spart. I dunno how the tach signal works on the 96+, cause i've never played with one. It's an easy swap back though, all you really need is the coil and older style gray/black plugs.
