What is this thing on my LT1?
My LT1 is from a 97 Z28. I was looking it over for the first time in ages yesterday and saw something i've never seen before.
It was mounted over the drives side valve cover. It looks like its supposed to have a cover on it, but that cover was missing. It had some white pulleys visable.
My dad thought it might be the cruise control... I'm starting to think it was some kind of traction control deal?
What is it and do I need it? Hell can it even be used in an 85 IROC?

Sounds like part of the traction control. You don't need it. I don't even know how you would begin trying to make traction control to work on a third gen without ABS.

It's traction control. The 4th gen LT1 traction control is entirley throttle based. It senses a wheel slipping and closes the throttle. As far as I'm aware, it doesn't control any braking. If you try hare enough, It could probably be incorperates into a 3rd gen. You'd need the 4th gen ABS computer and wheel sensors though.
