Bringing the LS1 upto LS2 levels???
I've been tossing around the idea of still doing an LS2 swap if my buddy can score one at the yard he works at soon, but if I have to go LS1 do to price then I have questions...
I was planning on a basically stock LS2 with a cam, ported heads and intake, and forged internals for boost. Of course headers too. I have no idea what that would put out at the crank N/A (480 maybe?).
What would I have to do to an LS1 to get those power levels? Not even so much power levels but I'm very concerned about reliability. I've heard stories about the LS1's having valve issues, oil pump issues, misc leaks, etc. Can I even get an LS1 to put out the same as an LS2 and be every bit as reliable?
This question will basically lean me towards with a built LS1 or building a traditional SBC. No matter what though I plan on installing a Procharger about a year after the build.
Thanks!

LS1's will make 450whp with a nice cam and heads package. again, some more or less, depends. it will be a fairly big cam but can be streetable. but streetability depends on your personal definition of streetable

I'd like to get a LS2 in my car that way I can get a set of L92 heads/intake a nice meaty cam in it.
Yeah I'm thinking about finding a complete LS1 that's not running (IE: a core) that I can put 4.00" sleeves into it and run L92 heads with the L76 truck intake. Those plans are a ways off though unless I can score an LS1 for less than $800 not running but complete. I don't need the tranny either.

ls1 are completely reliable. and ls2s are pretty cool. but why not try this....
ls2, dart 225's, magnacharger=750hp
its alittle expensive but completely reliable.
