Carb intake with F.I. vs. stock type intake?

The old 305 is on it's last legs and I'm looking at options for a new engine, I'm pretty sure I'm going to go with a new 440 Horsepower GM LS2 crate engine with a T-56 trans and would like to use the GM carb intake that has F.I. injector bosses cast into it, then use an aftermarket F.I. system of some type, the main reason is because I want to use a cowl induction system on it and I just don't like the looks of the plastic front feeding stock type intakes. Has anyone seen any test on how much the power difference would be between the two intake systems? I imagine the carb intake may take a hit at lower RPM "IF" it had a carb on it but I'm not sure if F.I. would negate that loss?

I know of a guy who had a Torker II retrofitted for FI that he is going to put on a 6 liter he is building with an 1100 CFM throttle body on top instead of using the LS1 style intake, supposed to make it breath better. He is also going to keep the LS1 harness and let it do the fuel management instead of buying an aftermarket setup.

I take one thing back, it wasn't a torker II it was the Edelbrock LS1 carb intake he had done up (which looks like a torker II)
