LS1 Fuel System Question
Ok guys, Im about to get all my parts for my 99 LSx/T56 swap into my 84 and I was wondering about the fuel system. As of this moment, I am running a carb with a mechanical fuel pump on the block.
What would be easier/ better in your guys opinion?
Just put a outside the tank fuel pump and do all the lines
or
Get a 99-02 gas tank and get the fuel pump and they gas guage switch (from other post i saw) and make the certain lines.
I have no idea about the whole fuel injection system, I believe i gotta make a return line. I am just wondering what would you guys do if you were in my boat.
Any other ideas is respected and asked for.
Thanks guys.

Re: LS1 Fuel System Question
well, since you didn't have EFI already you will need to make a return line. However its not a return line like on TPIs and LT1s. They have a pressure regulator on the return coming off the fuel rails. The LS1 puts its regulator in/on the tank if I remember right. Basically you need the fuel feed (from the pump) to go into a T, where one part goes to the fuel rail and the other line goes back to the tank where the regulator is.
This is why the LS1s are regaurded as 'returnless', the fuel pressure is controlled before it gets to the motor instead of afterwards. I'm going from memory here, so if anyone knows different for a fact, speak up.

Re: LS1 Fuel System Question
My advice, use an LS1 tank. It bolts in with only slight adjustment to the rubber part of the filler neck.
Then, you just need to make lines. I reworked factor 4th gen lines with sucess. Others make custom steel...otherse use braided. As for the return feature...do a search for LS1 fuel lines... Its basically a "T" before the filter. There is a part number for a corvette part that work good from what I hear.
There are numerous posts on hooking up a 4th gen tank as well as how to construct the return portion. If you cant find anything, post up and Ill dig something up for you.
