I would like to know who has the best deal on a rebuild kit for the LT1. I have 2, one I'm wanting to build to a 383 and the other I wanting to run somewhat stock I have not yet pulled it apart but I hope to keep it as stock as possible depending on internal condition of course.

 

what are your plans for the 383? its pretty much pointless to build one if you're not going to get the supporting modifications as well, such as heads, cam, throttle body, injectors, headers, etc. with that said, Summit has an Eagle 383 rotating assembly kit, http://store.summitracing.com/partde...0&autoview=sku for just over $1000. It's a decent kit, will handle street duties just fine and a decent amount of power. It all comes down to what you want to do with the engine though. I'm building up a 383 right now that the rotating assembly alone is $2500, heads are another $2500, but the engine will handle 20 lbs. of boost and 7000+ rpm.

 

I just want a nice running street car running on a fi setup. I'm not looking to boost it I just want more power not such much more that the rest of car's aspects have to be strengthen to keep up..

 

you can very easily do that with stock cubes. head/cam/exhaust will put you over 400 hp to the wheels with the right setup

 

A 350 putting 400hp to the wheels NA can probably be done but it will have less street manners. You will get better street manners with the 383 trying to get 400 to the ground not to mention more potential for future upgrades.

 

400hp to the wheels NA with an LT1 is very streetable, and still get 23+ mpg.

However, the car will have to be beefed up to take the extra torque. Subframe connectors, possibly a better rear end to get rid of the stock 10 bolt, a 9" or 12 bolt for when the 10 bolt breaks.

 

this is an LT1 we're talking about. TONS of people have reached the 400 rwhp mark or close to it in daily drivers with perfect street manners. Good heads and a matched cam will get you very close. yes, a 383 will give more potential later on, but from the sounds of it this is a low budge build that isn't going for max power. take the money that would be put into a rotating assembly and get the stock heads ported and get some exhaust.
