Hey guys.

Im in the process of doing an LS1 swap in my 1991 Camaro RS. I have a LS1 out of a 2000 Camaro SS with the following compressor, bracket and pulley.

Compressor: 1137018
Bracket: 12556677
Pulley: 12560345

The clutch is about 5 3/8 inch in diameter.

The problem is that the clutch and the bottom bolt that goes into the bracket is hitting my steering. Has anyone had this problem before? Ive notched the cradle like everyone else has and that part clears. I am running spohn motor mounts and transmission crossmember and I dont have any fitment issues there. Its just the compressor hitting the steering. Has anyone had this problem before? I need help really quickly because Im on a tight schedule with this. Please let me know what my options are. Thanks!!!

Kubus,
Are you hitting on the idler arm?? If so, can you snap a pic of where its hitting? I didnt really hit anywhere, but when I turn my wheel, the castle nut on the idler arm kind of nips the one line coming from the compressor. But then again, my A/C is tweaked and custom...so you might not have the same issue. A pic will help tho.

EDIT: Some people have had to slot the idler arm holes some more in order to either move it up or down..I cant remember which right now. But I think I remember that solving the clearance issue.....

I had to do exactly what Ghetto said. I did not have to notch the idler arm but I did loosen the bolts and slide it away as far as it would go and I did use a zip cut on a mini grinder to cut the end of the protruding threaded portion down for clearance. I also carefully bent the line out of the way so it would clear. I have about half inch clearance now and a summers worth of driving with no issues

Got it figured out. We raised the engine up about an 8th of an inch. The spohn motor mounts sort of suck so we fixed it by shimming them
