over the summer my iroc is getting an LS2 and im still not sure as to if i will need a LS1 t56 from an f-body or can i use a t56 from a LS2 GTO....

The tailshafts of the trannies and the shifter location is different. You want the t56 from a F-body. GTO tranny isnt gonna fit without shifter and tailshaft swap.
The f-body t56 is a direct bolt on on the LS2.

How much difference is the shifter position from the GTO and the F-Body? I'm looking for a T56 for my swap. I've got a 9" so I'll need a new driveshaft anyway. I'd be interested in how far off the GTO shifter would be, as it might not pose that big of a problem.Originally Posted by Spike-Z

I wanted to know what the real diff is... I hear gear ratio...
now as it Looks (key word looks) the gto one has the provitions for the torque arm just like the f-body one.
the shifter is well just the shifter. an f-body one would bolt in place since the offset is in the gto shifter base it's self
I thought the coupler came off some how??... well flame away
