v6- lt1 swap

ok i am posting this for a freind of mine he is swapping a 1995 lt1/t56 in to his lq9 5 spd v6 camaro 1990 i believe

he wants to know if he will have to relocate the motor mounts on the v6 camaro's sub frame

and concerning the spedo. as long as he has a lt1 comp and a plug and play wiring harness it should work correct?

Re: v6- lt1 swap

Majority of the questions are answered in the sticky about swapping over from V6 to V8 and others in the LT1/LS1 swap sticky.

But short answer, yes he will have to move the mounts, use V8 mounts on the front of the crossmember, move the brake lines to the back of the crossmember. If his speedo is cable driven, he will have to get a cable-x box to drive the speedo, if electric he will just hook up the speedo output wire from the LT1 harness to the speedo input wire on the dash harness.

There is not really a plug and play harness available. Z28***** has made a few harness and turned out nice from what I've read.

As it says in the V6 to V8 swap sticky, the crossmembers are identical, with all of the bolt holes already drilled.

I offer them, but so far nobody has wanted one due to the price and the fitment of the caprice/impala modified harness.

Harness to put computer in dash location is about 2x the cost of a modified impala/caprice harness since all of the wire has to be new.
