LS1 swap. Auto Or Stick?

I have a 91 RS Vert, I just got a 2002 LS1 and put a TR224/230/112 cam in and 243's with Patriot Dual Gold Springs, I also bought a low mileage 4l60e from a 2001 Z28. I am also getting LTs, Cutouts, 3" Y-pipe to Magnaflow muffler, I have the 4th gen plastic tank/fuel pump, and 4th gen rear with 3.23s. I am guessing I will have around 400rwhp. Does that sound right?

I had a 91 hardtop and it was auto, the tranny went out a few times so I swapped it to a t5. I has a lot more fun, but I fugure with all of this horsepower it is going to be fun either way. And I already have the 4l60e.

I was planning on a Vigilante 3200 for the stall. But now I am wondering if I will wish I had gone with a t56.

I know it's personal preference, just wanted to get some opinions because I have never driven anything with high amounts of power, I also have never driven a stalled auto.

The car will be driven every weekend, and at least a few days during the week at night, I might take it to the track a few times a year, but being a convertible I want it to be safe.

Any input is appreciated, I am sure I will be happy either way, going from 170hp to 400rwhp is a pretty big jump.
Thanks

Well its mosty about personal preference but if u wanna keep the 4L60E that you have, make sure its up to the task. Couple of my friends have blown them on stock LS1 power, and one blew 3 in his LT1 Caprice with only only bolt ons, gears, and tq converter. So make sure yours is in really good running order. The problem about swapping to a T56 is the fact that it costs sooooo much more. Unless you get a great deal on one expect to pay the same amount to swap a T56 in as it does to get a built 4L60E.

i think you should stick to auto since your car is set up for auto and because you already have a trans plus you dont want this to happen

I like auto's. I had one behind my 406. I rather have an auto.
I put in a t56 for the sole purpose of it being able to handle more power.

Well dude this is my opinion on that. You're planning on 400whp. Stock LS1's are around 300, thats quite a bit more than stock. 4L60E's are gentle on the rest of your drive train, in other words they like to sacrifice themselves before destorying the rest of the system. So if you like the gas pedal, and who doesnt, it might last or it might grenade a gear quick. Depends on your luck. Personally i'd spend the money and get a nicely built one that will stand up to more than that power and you'll never have to worry about it again. I've seen fully built ones that'll handle 600whp for a little over a grand, bout the same price for a nice T56. Hope i helped dude
