noob with questions and late for work haha
hey guys gotta make it quick, ill do some more investigation when i return home, but i thought maybe some one could point me down teh right road as far as difficulty and price.
I just finished building a 1.8 Turbo S13 240sx and suprise its an import and im already bored... it runs 11s but woohoo! ive got 13k in the car... and its not really a good daily and since my daily **** out on me... its being sold or traded.
I got an interesting trade offer the other day an 87 305 SMOG HOG Camaro with 48k orig miles garage kept one (family) owner, guy is a marine, it was his moms car bla bla bla he has no love for domestics and his mom can no longer drive stick.
Anyway, he offered me the car plus $4000 cash for my car. i told him i would consult a few people and take a look at the car and entertain the idea.
I got to thinking maybe it would be a good car to drop a slightly worked over LS1 in, maybe a magic stick and some long tubes and leave it alone, Ive got plenty of friends locally running LT, Lid and MS3 getting 25mpg daily driving problem free so i figured why not inquire about it.
My questions basicly for you guys would be. how hard is the swap to do, do i have to fab headers and driveshaft (really not a huge deal) where i can get crossmembers etc for the swap, and mostly whats the finacial aspect of the whole swap look like
Like i said, ill do some more looking around when i get home from work, now that im super late. But i appreciate any help you guys can give me!

Yes, that would be an excellent car to drop an LS1 into, stock or worked over. Headders will need to be fabbed, I know Hawks thirdgen (site sponser, has a huge selection of swap parts, and is a very good company to work with) has swap headder, but I've heard that they may not fit very well on all cars, and are lots of $$. Your current driveshaft will work, no problem, stock crossmember will work, though if you want a/c you either need to relocate the compressor or notch the k-member. A lot of ppl get an aftermarket one because of this. PA racing and BMR both make them, use the search button and you'll find all sorts of info on the subject.
As far as $$ for the whole project, it all depends on the deal you get on the engine/trans (I got mine +harness and pcm for $3000), and how much fabbing you can do. I don't think a basic swap could be done for under $5k. I know pleanty of people have probably done it for way less, some have done it for way more.
Like I said before, the search button is your friend, and welcome to the LS1 swap nation

You would be much much better off by first selling your S13 for whatever you can get out of it. Then find a clean body, never been wrecked 91-92 RS, automatic, even if you plan on going with a manual, thats got a bunch of mileage, which shouldnt be a problem for about $500-$1500, then go from there.
The 91-92 Body gets you:
EFI fuel sending unit, one less part you'll have to buy when your making the fuel system keep up.
EFI fuel lines, the earlier carb'd car fuel lines arent going to work too well for you.
Electronic speedometer, earlier cars have a cable driven speedometer, 90-92 camaros were electronic, a cable speedo car is going to cost you more to do the swap to.
A V6 body typically hasnt been stressed as hard, so you've got a better foundation and can do the reinforcements before putting the wear n tear on it.
Upgraded hatch motor in the 92's and some of the 91's, much better than the earlier ones.
Nicer dash and exterior appearance, though this one is just an opinion, to many its very valid.
