transmission?
i have an 89 with a 305 and 5sp t5. the 305 will soon be coming out and a ls 5.3 will be going in its place and i want to know is there any way to use my stock transmission until i can afford the t56? if so what do i need to do?

a gen I transmission will not work with an LS series motor. I think the input shaft is different.

The T5 will work, you have to change the bellhousing, get a flywheel adapter plate for the motor, however the T5 won't last very long behind even a 5.3

Really i always thought that there were differences that made them incompatable.

yeah i thought the bell housing would work but not the flywheel. i have read so many different things that it will or would not so i figured someone would know on here i know the t5 will go shortly but its just to get me around till a t56 can be afforded. so where can i get the right bell housing and fly wheel for this combo. thanks for the help. i just want to get things ready so it will be a straight forward operation. any extra help would be great.
