Re: Swaping LT1 1993

hey my name is erick, i've had a 88 and 2000 formula and now have a 89 formula(tpi). i was wondering if you or anyone else knows the process of putting a 97 lt1 motor in it, but making it carbureted instead of fuel injected? thanks

Can I ask why you are going carb? After you ditch the FI In my eyes it just is not a LT1 any more. I could go on and on but here this should get you started https://www.thirdgen.org/forums/ltx-...questions.html

Re: Questions about LT1 carb'd swap

If you are going to carb the LT1 you might as well just get a gen1 sbc and go that route, its probably cheaper and much more aftermarket support...just my

Re: Questions about LT1 carb'd swap

it's a cool build idea in my opinion. the only carb'd intake on the market is put out by gm performance parts though...and it's not the best intake for super high performance. but you can use a traditional distributor at the rear of the motor. the opti-spark get's thrown out. the water pump drive has to be modded (come in a kit from GM? maybe?) so that the water pump will still be driven off the cam. i gotta buddy here locally that modded a gen I super victor intake to work on the gen II heads...crazy looking bastard cause the hole where the water neck goes is just an empty hole...but it fires up and runs great!

the lt1 cylinder head is far superior to anything that came on a traditional sbc from the factory, but not superior to the aftermarket cylinder heads available for the gen I. i would only consider the swap if it was mostly free...
