Re: LT1 Swap Help
I've been poking around, and it seems that a substantial amount of fabrication is required to employ the wiring harness from the '95 in a third gen application. From what I've been reading on the subject, the most painless solution to wiring up an LT1 is to purchase a "Painless Harness" from JEGS or another source.
Hope this helped, and I am currently wondering the same thing. As an engineer, I feel that I can take on any challenge involving fabrication, but I might bite the bullet and buy a painless harness.

Re: LT1 Swap Help
For the rear end, you can keep the original, but how long it would last no one can guess. I'm collecting parts for my LT swap and I'm probably just gonna grab a stock posi rear out of another f-body (mine is an open rear) and try not to over abuse it. As for the wiring, there are a lot of places to go for pre made ones if you want to go that way. As Falcon mentioned, there's Painless Wiring, but I've heard good and bad things about em (pretty much just a brand new factory harness). I personally am probably gonna go with a SpearTech wiring harness as I haven't read anything bad about em yet and I want the piece of mind of having all brand new wires instead of splicing the factory ones together. Suppossedly just 4-5 wires to splice in and a few more under the dash is what others that have used em said. They also offer a service to modify your stock harness if it's good enough to save like $200. I've heard of a couple people going to TPIS for a street rod harness too. It's all up to what you wanna do. Good luck with what ever stuff you choose to use!!

Re: LT1 Swap Help
I used the underhood fusebox from a '95 when I put the LT1 in the car, spliced about 8 wires in and the car was up and running with the stock LT1 harness that came with the motor. But the harness did come out of an f-body instead of a b-body or vette so it was a little easier from what I have read to use.
