LS1 Fuel Pump w/ 3rd Gen Tank?

Hi everyone, I am doing the swap and tried searching but could not find a definitive answer. Will an LS1 style fuel pump bolt to the stock 3rd gen tank / sending unit? Do I need a 4th gen sending unit and will that fit in the 3rd gen tank? Or should I just go with an aftermarket TPI pump like a walbro 255lph? If so anyone have any part numbers?

That's what I did... I'd have to dig through my receipts for a PN, but that seemed like the simplest, most-logical choice for me...

if you can find a complete 4th gen tank assy, thats the route I would recommend. Its a direct bolt in part. only mod i had to make was to the filler neck which was a piece of cake.

Yeah, but then you have to dink around with the sender to make the gauge work correctly, don't you? The 4thgen tank just seemed like extra work for no real benefit to me...

4th gen tank makes the FPR part of the fuel system cake as their stock stuff fits their stuff and doesnt need an extra one in the engine bay or the 'vette filter/regulator thingy

The pump itself should swap over. Walbro lists the same PN for its 255 pump in 3rd and 4th gens. The kit changes thou, Id assume from the extra bits included but the pump itself is the same

How far along are you Shift?

I'm gonna have to go through the sticky again to refresh my memory on these things lol. Thanks for the help though guys.

Jon, I am far from where I want to be lol. I have the complete drivetrain out, (motor, tranny, rear end). Fuel tank is out awaiting new pump now. Spohn mounts are installed and crossmember notched. I am basically held up by lack of funds.

Ditto, Im stuck on some tiny things like coil mini-harness' and fuel line fittings

I havent made up my mind if Im doing engine bay AFPR or the vette filter thingy
Both cost within $20 for all the fittings required
