Correct me if I'm wrong, but is it true that if you run a rubber hose from the small outlet on the stock 3rd gen radiator right by the radiator cap, to the coolant bypass tubes that are right under the intake manifold, you DON'T have to drill and tap a nipple on the top of the water pump?

What I'm talking about is what this guy did:

That hose goes to the radiator here:

This is something that has confused me for a while. I'm really like to not have to drill a hole in the water pump if I don't have to.

I didnt want to drill and tap mine either so I put a piece of stainless tube in the middle of the upper rad hose with a nipple on it and hooked it to that. Heres a crappy pic where the blue arrow points is the place

Did you just cut the radiator hose in half and use the tube as a slip fit design with hose clamps?

I think I read somewhere that you had extra parts to make another one of those? Do you still?

Woulda been better to use a small hose length to the fitting, but this held up.

Nick - mine is the same routing as Sheldon's. I used a small length of hose coming off of the radiator with a converter at the end of it (to shrink down the opening) then the small coolant hose (same size as Sheldon's).

So that little hose goes to the bypass tubes under the intake, by the throttle body right? And since you did it that way, you don't need the waterpump drilled with a nipple, that hose serves the same purpose?

Yep! Technically its suppost to pass through the underside of the TB, but thats for winter driving purposes. We dont care about that

No need to drill the waterpump, i simply ran my hose to the nipple shown, and called it good.

Ya I am going to cut off the nipples on the throttle body since I won't be driving it when it is cold.

Another option is to drill & tap the power steering cooler (which I happen to have).
