I just learned the hardest part of an LSX swap

...changing out the motor mounts with poly mounts with the engine still in the car.

That was STUPID hard! I started at 3:00pm and took a break for dinner and just now finished at 10:00. And to be honest I'd NEVER have finished without my dad, uncle, and cousin helping me. I literally COULD NOT do it by myself, because the holes on the new mounts wouldn't line up with the holes on the k-member. We used all sorts of things like pry bars, screw drivers, and a tapered punch to try and line them up. Words cannot describe how difficult it was. I will NEVER do that again lol. I'm glad it's done though, hopefully my exhaust rattles are gone now that the motor and exhaust won't be shaking around so much.

I ended up taking the alternator and the brackets for the alternator off halfway when I started putting the new mounts back on. Everything else stayed on the car including the long tubes. I'm so exhausted now I'm going to hit the sack

Yea I definitely do NOT recommend doing this the way I did. If you're going to put poly mounts on your car, do it while the motor is out. I was really scared I wasn't going to be able to finish the job and would have to dismount the trans from the motor and get a cherry picker in there.

One more reason to write down reminding myself why I'm getting a tubular K member soon.

Mine is tubular. It still doesn't make it easy when the motor and trans are in the car already lol

I had to do this alone, with a stock Kmember.

Re: I just learned the hardest part of an LSX swap

The good news is that when I drove it on Saturday night, my exhaust rattle was gone.

The bad news is, my clutch problem has gotten worse even after bleeding it several more times. It's not leaving the garage until it gets a Tick master cylinder.

Do you know a good place to buy the Tick master cylinder, I think I also need their remote bleeder kit, but I´m not sure where I can buy them...

That remote bleeder is AWESOME. Took me like two minutes to bleed it counting the time I took to drink a beer.

Re: I just learned the hardest part of an LSX swap

We just finished doing the same...and swapping the tubular k-member and a-arms in at the same time. Tried a new transmission dipstick tube I saw being used on ls1tech...it's better but still hits the firewall. yar. You don't have an old 700r4 tube laying around do ya?
