carburetored Lt1 questions
600 cfm edelbrock performer carb is it too small for this engine. I'm runnung 2108 edelbrock cam, electric water pump, hei distributor.
The resson I'm asking is if I'm sitting at a light and I floor it my car don't move. If I maintain a speed and floor it she boggs out on me but if I back off the pedel just a little bit she will go. I took out the old fuel pump in the tank and ran a rubber hose through it. Installed a in-line fuel pump pushing 6 psi. Any help would be greatful to me Thanks
ENGINE: CHEVY LT1 (1992-1997)
RPM RANGE: 1500-6500
Duration at 0.006" Lift:Intake: 286°Exhaust: 286° Duration at 0.050" Lift:Intake: 218°Exhaust: 218° Lift at Cam:Intake: 0.350"Exhaust: 0.350" Lift at Valve:Intake: 0.525"Exhaust: 0.525"Timing at 0.050" lift:OpenCloseIntake:3° ATDC41° ABDCExhaust:41° BBDC3° BTDCCenterlines:Lobe Separation - 112°Intake Centerline - 112°
Note: Produces 10" vacuum @ 1000 rpm. Use with high stall torque converter or standard transmission only.

Step #1 - make sure the timing is set correctly.
If you are confident that is correct, then it certainly is not a fuel delivery issue. If it takes off when first going WOT and then drops off, that's a fuel delivery issue. You're experiencing lean bog, which simply means the main fuel circuit in the secondaries is not getting the fuel flowing to match the air that is being introduced into the engine.
Personally, I would never run an Edelbrock carb. They are a cheap way to get a car running, with emphasis on "cheap". Trying to optimize one is an exercise in futility. For a performance engine, run a Holley type carb, and not a vacuum secondary. Take your pick of brand - Holley, Demon, Quick Fuel, Proform, whatever. But get rid of that Edelbrock.
Of course, personally I would never put a carb on an LT1, but that's a different issue.

Re: carburetored Lt1 questions
Thanks guys for all your help wish I would of found this website sooner. would of saved a lot of headaches. I realized I messed up making it carbed. Big misstake there. but now I suck with it. Since money is a issue now. I'll try a differant carb hopefully that will help.
I cut out all my wires running to my ecm. If I was to find the wire harness for the fuel injectors and the brain box for it. would I be able to install it still. This may sound stupid to ask but I just need to hear it for another source.
If I stick with the carb is a 600cfm big enough.
Agian thank you for replying. to this thread.

The '91 computer stuff isn't going to do you much good. The LT1 PCM is pretty much self-contained with the engine/transmission harness with connections to the chassis for power, fuel pump power, tach/speedometer output, brake pedal switch, etc.
600 CFM is marginal for a 350 spinning to 5500 RPMs, assuming a dual plane intake (you didn't say what intake you're using). 650 would be more like it.
