I just picked up my donor lt1 today and it's in great shape. The only problem is that the po had to use just about everything for his lt4 swap. He still has a lot of parts to include water pump, accessory bracket, harness, computer, and stock exhaust manifolds left. What all should I try to get from him to make my swap easier?

Re: Getting ready for my lt1 swap
You need the longblock, intake, accessories, harness, PCM, trans

Nearly everything else is getting replaced just to make the new engine fit

What all did he take off?

Re: Getting ready for my lt1 swap
I've got the long block, intake, throttle body, and fuel rail. He used the harness that was in his car but chopped some of the pigtails off of the one he got to replace some missing ones from his harness. He also used the water pump and accessory bracket. He has two computers, one is from the roadmaster that the engine was pulled from, and the other from the vette that he got the lt4 from. It's just that with all his parts he has left over being lt4 i don't know what all I can use. Is there a bracket that will mount the alternator on the drivers side so I can use the lt4 water pump if it will work with the lt1? I was thinking about just running manual steering so no need for the pump.

Whats different about the LT4 WP? None of the LTx WPs are belt driven

You've got nearly everything. I hope you're getting a great deal on the B-body iron head LT1 (be sure its not a L99) because they're super common in JYs for a couple hundred bucks

Re: Getting ready for my lt1 swap
The first thing I looked at was the casting number to make sure it was a legit LT1. He said he tried using the LT4 water pump and accessory bracket with the LT1 but one of the outlets was to close to the alternator. I think I could toss on a 90 degree rubber hose and be fine.

So it sounds like I need the water pump, roadmaster computer, harness, and accessory bracket. Or should I say scrap the accessory bracket and just order an alternator bracket from summit.
